Account security: passwords and sign-in
Reset a forgotten Clox password, change your password in Settings, turn on two-factor sign-in, and learn why your kiosk PIN is separate from your account.
Your Clox account is where your crew's time and your payroll data live, so it's worth keeping locked down. This covers resetting a forgotten password, changing your password, turning on two-factor sign-in, and why your kiosk PIN is a separate thing from your password.
Reset a forgotten password
If you can't remember your password, you don't need to call anyone. You can reset it yourself from the sign-in page.
- Go to the sign-in page at app.getclox.com.
- Next to the Password box, click Forgot?
- Enter your email and click Send reset link.
- Open the email from Clox and click the link. It drops you on a screen where you set a new password.
- Type your new password, confirm it, and you're signed back in.
Change your password
If you already know your password and just want to change it, do it from Settings while you're signed in.
- Open Settings and go to the Account & security section.
- On the Password row, click Change password.
- Type your new password, confirm it, and click Save password.
Passwords need to be at least 6 characters. Longer is better. Use something you don't reuse on other sites.
Turn on two-factor sign-in
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second step at sign-in: after your password, you enter a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. Even if someone gets your password, they can't get in without that code. You'll find it in Settings under Account & security, on the Two-factor authentication row.
- Click Turn on 2FA.
- Open an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, or similar) and scan the QR code. No camera handy? Type in the setup key shown next to it.
- Enter the 6-digit code your app shows and click Verify & enable.
- Clox shows you 10 recovery codes. Save them somewhere safe.
Your kiosk PIN is not your password
Some crews clock in on a shared tablet by tapping their name and entering a short PIN. That kiosk PIN is a 4 to 8 digit number, and it's completely separate from your account password. It only lets you clock in on a shared tablet. It does not sign you into the web app, and it doesn't lock or unlock anything else. You can set or change it on the Kiosk PIN row in Account & security.
Lost a device or worried someone has access
In Account & security there's a Sign out everywhere row. Clicking it signs your account out on every phone, tablet, and computer at once. Use it if a device goes missing or you think someone else got into your account, then change your password to be safe.
