About

We built Clox because Sunday night used to suck.

Clox is built by a small team for small teams. The kind of business where the owner is also the foreman, the estimator, and the guy answering the phone at 7am on Saturday.

The story

We watched a family member do this. He ran a one-man electrical shop that grew to 8 employees over 12 years. Every Sunday night he did payroll at the kitchen table with a stack of handwritten timecards. His wife had the calculator. He had the phone, texting his foreman to clarify when Carlos came in on Tuesday.

Most weeks it took 3 hours and the math was 80% right. The other 20% became Friday arguments. We watched him pay an apprentice $40 extra because the apprentice swore he'd worked the hours, and arguing wasn't worth the bad blood. That apprentice would talk. So would the journeymen. The leak was real money.

He tried QuickBooks Time once. Returned it within a month. Too much for what he needed. Tried a paper-bound timecard app from the App Store. Crashed every time. Tried writing his own spreadsheet. Wife refused to use it.

So we built Clox. The version we wanted to hand him. One screen. One tap. Calculations done. Sunday night free.

How it splits up

Clox works in two places. Managers and the office run everything from the web app, on a computer or a phone browser. That is where you set up jobs, approve hours, and run payroll.

Your crew uses the Clox app on their phones to clock in. One tap starts or ends a shift, and the app tracks breaks and overtime for you. It keeps working when there is no signal and syncs once the connection comes back. The app is coming soon to the App Store.

If some of your crew share one device, you can set up a tablet on site as a kiosk, and they punch in with a PIN. Either way, every hour lands in the same place.

What we believe

Software should be invisible. The best time tracker is the one your guys forget they're using. We don't want feature parades. We want one screen that works.

Pricing should be honest.A flat base fee plus a low per-user rate, every feature included, no per-feature gating. If we can't make money at $29 a month plus $6 a head, we'll go work for somebody else.

Small businesses deserve good tools. The construction trades, the cleaning crews, the landscapers, the independent restaurants. They've been handed enterprise software dressed down, or half-finished hobby projects. We aim for good software priced fairly.

Your data is your data.Cancel and we'll export everything. Delete and we delete. No dark patterns, no guilt-trip cancellation flows.

What we don't do

We don't track your employees' keystrokes. We don't take screenshots. We don't score their productivity. We don't sell their data to anyone, ever.

Clox is for honest crews and honest owners. If you need spy software, we're the wrong tool.

Who we are

Clox is a small, self-funded team. We don't have venture investors pushing us to chase enterprise contracts. That means we can stay focused on small-team time tracking, and answer your support email personally.
