Free Construction Timesheet Template with Job and Cost Codes
A construction timesheet has one extra job: telling you where the hours went, not just how many there were. This template adds Job code and Cost code columns to the daily rows and rolls hours up into a per-job subtotal tab, which is the paper version of job costing.

How to use it
- Daily rows work like any timesheet: in, out, break minutes, hours computed.
- Job code gets the project (MAPLE-ST, YONKERS-FS3, whatever your bids use). Cost code gets the work type if you track one (rough-in, trim, punch-list).
- The Jobs tab subtotals hours per job code automatically. At the end of the week, that tab is your labor actuals against each bid.
- Codes only work if they're short and consistent. Agree on the list before the week starts, and put it on the sheet's second tab so nobody invents spellings.

Why the codes matter more than the hours
Total hours tells you what payroll costs. Hours per job tells you which bids make money, and that second number is the one that changes how you quote the next job. Even one honest week of coded hours usually surprises an owner somewhere: drive time billed to the wrong job, or a punch list using up a job's margin. Our job costing guide goes deeper on turning these subtotals into bid corrections.

When a spreadsheet stops working
Coded timesheets fail the same way plain ones do, just with more columns: codes get skipped in the field, sheets arrive late, and the subtotal tab is only as accurate as what people remember on Friday. Clox tags every punch to a project and task at clock-in, on the worker's phone, at the job site, and the per-project hours and labor dollars build themselves in Reports while the week is still happening. Same codes, no collection problem.
