How clocking in and out works

One-tap clock-in, mid-shift project switches, breaks, lunch deductions, and what happens if you forget to clock out.

The basic flow

  1. Open the Today page on your phone or browser
  2. Optional: pick a project from the dropdown above the button
  3. Tap Start
  4. Work your shift — the timer runs in the background even if you close the app
  5. When you finish, open Clox again and tap End
Clox works offline. If you clock out without a signal, your punch is queued and syncs as soon as your phone reconnects.

Switching projects mid-shift

If you start on Project A and switch to Project B halfway through, you don't have to clock out and back in. Tap Switch project while clocked in — Clox closes the first entry, opens a new one on Project B, and keeps your continuous shift timer running.

Lunch breaks

Two ways to handle lunch:

  • Manual: tap Lunch when you stop, tap Resume when you come back. Time is split into two entries.
  • Auto-deduct: a manager can set up automatic 30-minute lunch deductions for shifts over a certain length. Your timesheet shows "worked: 9h" and "paid: 8.5h" with the 0.5h labeled as auto-lunch.

Forgot to clock out?

No problem. Open Timesheet. If your last shift is still open you'll see a yellow "Still on the clock since…" banner with a Set clock-out button. That opens an edit modal pre-filled with your start time — fill in when you actually stopped and save.

Editing past shifts

If you have permission to edit your own shifts (set by your manager), you can correct any past entry from the Timesheet page. Tap the row, edit the start/end times, optionally add a note explaining the correction, save.

If you don't have edit permission, you can submit a correction request that your manager approves or rejects.
